Cleaner Wanted in Barnes SW13

Looking for a highly experienced, reliable cleaner with exceptionally high standards for a 2 bed 2 bath flat in Barnes, very close to public transport. 4-5 hours per week. Must be comfortable working around resident cat! Willing to pay well if person demonstrates consistently high standards and reliability. Computer Scam.

Beware of computer scam. Just clicked on a link regarding a false claim that Professor Stephen Hawking had died. The screen froze and a warning was given that my computer was infected with a virus. The only way to get into my laptop was to shut down and restart. All is now fine. The warning was to phone 0800 086 9834 to speak to an engineer from Windows (lies). When I phoned the number the engineer wanted to take control of my computer and would have wanted a huge fee to put it right. When I told him the computer was now fine he slammed the phone down. If you google 0800 086 9834 you will see posts from many others who were given a fright.

Merton Road

Dear Wandsworth Council Why is the beginning of Merton Road (off Wandsworth High Street) so dirty with rubbish? It must be one of the dirtiest roads in Wandsworth!The main problem is that the Town houses do not have anywhere to put their bins as their doors open directly onto the street. So they and the restaurants and takeaways just dump the rubbish by the council bins...Couldn't a huge council wheelie bin be put there for them to place their rubbish inside...it is disgusting to walk along there!!! Putting up ''do not fly tip here'' isn't going to help as that is not the problem - the residents do not have anywhere to put their rubbish!Councillors please act and do something about it!

Traffic chaos in Wandsworth

Yes of course, SGN's action - or rather lack of it - in failing to alert motorists and residents to the traffic chaos they were about to inflict is deplorable. However, being cynical I cannot help but think that this is just a sign of things to come when next year (?) the new traffic system requested by the Ram Brewery people comes into effect and Armoury Way will be two lanes eastbound for ever! Still, it's good to know that I'll be nearly 150 before the gas pipes need to be replaced.

Catholic Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster.

I was shocked to see tonight's B.B.C. 6.00 p.m news. Mr Nichols was asked by reporter Martin Bashir regarding the E.U. crisis, "What is the Christian and Biblical response to this crisis."Mr Nichols replied, "It goes back to the very fundamental question posed by God [to Cain after he had murdered his brother Abel] "Are you not your brothers keeper."Genesis 4v9 actually reports that after God had asked Cain, "What have you done with your brother" it was Cain who stated, "I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper." According to the news report Mr Nichols credits God for uttering words that were uttered by the murderous Cain.

Support Your Local Newspaper

I hope the good people who run this site don't mind me putting this message up. I'm confident they won't given what I am told about their basic decency.The local chapter of the NUJ is currently balloting for industrial action for staff working for Newsquest in the South London area. This includes the Wandsworth Guardian. What is proposed is a significant number of job cuts across the area and a move to 'remote working' for many of the editorial staff. The paper is currently based in Sutton.Newsquest is owned by a Texas based media conglomerate with a CEO who is paid millions. The UK subsidiary is profitable and only needs to make these cuts to maintain the dividend growth to the parent company.This is not comparable to the opportunistic industrial action taken by overpaid tube drivers. The people who work at these newspapers are skilled professionals on relatively low wages.Many of us may no longer read a local newspaper, and I have to confess to not having picked up a copy of the Guardian for a long time. I do often read their articles online though. There is no doubt that newspapers in general have declined from their heyday but it would be wrong to say that they have lost all value to the local community and we would miss them if they were gone.We are lucky in this area to have a good independent news web site but that is nicely complemented by printed paper and so a shuttered Wandsworth Guardian or a paper produced with minimal editorial content would be bad news for us all.IF you aren't inclined to lobby on behalf of the Wandsworth Guardian by for instance writing to Sheila Boswell, Jane Ellison or Justine Greening then you could still support the local paper simply by reading it either in print and online.

Help me find Ellie - Lost Cat Wilna Road SW18

HiOur 2 year old cat disappeared from Wilna Road at the junction with Inman Road last night. She's a white calico cat and very affectionate. She has calico ears and tail.
