Hi Audrey,There is a photo of Peter Jennings on News.bbc.co.uk I would have loved to post the photoafter your flag but i am not up to it yet. SOON?
Hugh Telford ● 7705d
Yes Hugh it is really simple. I'll look and see if I can find that picture on the BBC. Do give the picture posting a try, it is fun and we all get a kick out of each others efforts. On one of the threads Jim really laid it all out for us and that's how I got into it. I'll look for the post so you can follow it, if I find it!!
Audrey Walton ● 7705d
Lets start again! Are you ok doing copy and paste? If not..reply and we'll help you ..if we can.First of all I suggest you print this message out.1) Go to the bbc News front page (via http://news.bbc.co.uk/ )2) Select a small picture...say of MacArthur or her sailing boat.3) Right click on the picture..which is on the right side of the screen4) the options grid will appear..does yours have a label for VIEW IMAGE?5) Click VIEW IMAGE or what ever one works for you..I have a Mozilla Firebox browser..which has different label names sometimes. PROPERTIES in Internet Explorer.6) the picture now should move to the top-left corner of the screen (or wherever your Address bar is)..and the url ..the address code at the top of page should change..and have jpg on the end. Ok?7) Now COPY that url (address ending in jpg) (stuck? use your mouse...scroll along the address from the right to the left..and if the blue appears you are doing ok. Right click ..see the list of options and right click COPY)8) Now...not using your right click at all...make your way back to the Forum...this Topic/thread..the last message...click and press REPLY button USING YOUR LEFT SIDE OF MOUSE.9) You are now in the reply box..agreed? Right click..and press PASTE label. The url (address ending in jpg) should appear.10) You could leave that url there..and subsequent readers of your message will copy and paste and find the picture themselves.11) But we are aiming to get pictures INSTANTLY on screen.12) Careful now.Add to the front of that urlAll you do them is press send..etc....return to see your new posting on thread...and it should be the picture. When you've done it 30 times..its ..a piece of cake!! Good luck and don't be embarrassed to keep trying.
I printed that posting early tonight from Chiswickw4 Aurdery but with no luck,i have windows xp i will keep trying.
Audrey i have Peter in (My Pictures)but cant move him to web page?
http://www.freeimghosting.com/login.phpYou now need to get the picture on to an imaging site. Got to above link and get a free account. Upload your picture to that site, follow their instructions. Once you get it there copy the url and paste it on the forum. You could have done this straight from wherever you found Peter's picture. You didn't need to get it into My Pictures. Question me if you can't follow me!! Good luck.
Well done Audrey..our messages have crossed in the post!..I mean in cyberspace.
Jim Lawes ● 7705d
Yes so sad. He said he would do the broadcasts when he could but we never saw him again after April. Great loss. If Hugh could follow the instructions on IMG he wouldn't need to save to My Pictures. I've been trying Fotopic but it doesn't like me...... I refuse to give up though!Jim straighten up and fly straight - on the squirrel thread!!! LOL
Re Fotopic..I have an idea that they have made life difficult for people ..non members...wanting to uplift photos from that site,Richard Jennings uses it..and he recently said he was ahving problems. It seems that most users on that site affix Copyright tags to their pictures..and indeed what to sell them!
ah ah, not a site for me then, I am too cheap to pay for such!! I have no problem with copyrighting my pics and if there are people who'd want to buy them - well I have thousands of pictures at the ready!!! We shall keep trying out these different sites.....
Audrey,Jim, Help I have picture in Ihost what next please.I am stuck Hugh.
Hugh Telford ● 7704d
I hope i have not frightened every body off the Site?
Hugh Telford ● 7703d
testing
tesing. CANT GET > IN TEH BOX.?
test no good cant get > on the end off url to long.
Audrey Walton ● 7703d
Hugh click on this picture and go to Properties and look at the http link. There needs to be a / between images and Telford, you had it all together. In your first attempt you had too much info before the http://www.freeimghosting, just delete all that when you paste. Hope this helps
I just saw this and your "Topic" is perfect. When you insert it in the reply you need [img src= in front of the http and then ] after jpg. In place of [ use This darn stuff is harder to explain than do!!!!
Hellow Audrey, I had the first part ok but cant get the > at the end off URL to much in box.
re testing.
Test103
Thats all try again tomorrow,Thank you all Hugh.
img src=http://www.freeimghosting.com/images/Telford55/40665352peterjenningsap.jpgI've left of the <> thingeys above so it possibly will print out. You can see there is plenty of room Hugh for the final >
Copy the first line in my post in reply to yours of not having enough room. Paste it into the reply box and then put the funny thingeys, one in front at end.You CAN DO IT Hugh!!
On that IMG hosting website...when you copy the url that they have in that box..alongside your picture..and hen you paste it on the Forum Reply page..I often findThat the very long url that they give you..is too long..and sometimes doesn't work..So what I do ..is erase the end bit ..on the right side..as far as jpg" I put the >on the end there..and get a much better success rate.Hugh is getting very close...to success.
Jim Lawes ● 7703d
Hope to see your picture of Peter Jennings on here tomorrow Hugh! Good luck.
Hugh Telford ● 7702d
Phew! I'm so glad you got it.... Now I shall have a happy day!!
Audrey Walton ● 7702d
THANK YOU,one and all Hugh.
Sorrey Jim i nicked one of your Pictures how much willthat be. Copyright and all that.:-()
Hugh when in IMG, use the URL the top one of the three choices.
Hi Aurdrey,I say thank you again i have been on a HIGH all day,it,s good when your 70 to catch up with the young ones.I do love this picture Jim posted today.I have to say goodnight like two passing ships in the night Good Night,Hugh.
What a day!I've been away from this Forum for some 24 hours ..so I'm a bit late seeing the Peter Jennings picture.that Hugh poster.Audrey and I and no doubt others are all delighted! So, Hugh..when you tour cyberspace..you can pluck these pictures (jpg s) and moving images (often gif s) from whereever you are and bring them back to the Forums! We find Chiswick is a little sensitive..but Ealing, Brentford and Wandsworth are always welcoming!
Jim Lawes ● 7702d
Hugh: Your 20.42.00 posting on the 11th ..with the picture below..came out straightaway..when I accessed your message via my "Messages in tray" Clicking onto your message on this thread though..kept your picture hidden in the box. Odd that. But hopefully its reproduced here!
Gotch.
Hugh Telford ● 7701d
Audrey, Jim and Hugh,I've been reading through the 'help' postings to try and get my degree in 'moving pictures and 'talkies' but am stymied....I can (9 times out of 10) post a picture, but where does one find the movies and sound please?
Ann S. Allridge ● 7697d
Ann: there are several ways of searching for these.1) If you right click onto any moving image you see...either on the Forums or in an advertisement...you will see a menu ..click on Properties..and if you see a url with a GIG on the end..you can just use it in the same way as with a JPG2) For example, find Hugh puffing train...or my running athlete..right click..click on Properties...see the url..copy it..click right hand corner to get out of the page..and put the url in the address bar. THEN REMOVE THE END BITS (OTHERWISE YOU WILL FINISH UP WITH THE PICTURE AGAIN) aND JUST LEAVE THE BASIC WWW.ADDRESS.You should now be taken to the hidden away source of the moving picture and see lots of others as well.3) Type Animated dog ..or something..into google search..and then find lots to explore. Typing the word ANIMATED + a noun..should produced results.Your Moving Image Diploma awaits! As for sounds..I'm a dunce in the corner. Peter is the Professor..but I've evidence that Hugh can do it too!
Jim Lawes ● 7697d
"1) If you right click onto any moving image you see...either on the Forums or in an advertisement...you will see a menu ..click on Properties..and if you see a url with a GIG on the end..you can just use it in the same way as with a JPG" Ann, Jim meant Gif at the end not Gig!I'm with you I've only attempted the one moving pic. I'm fascinated with the sound that Peter puts to his pics.
Audrey Walton ● 7697d
Hi Ann, If you have a printer, print Jim,s and Audrey, smessage,s you will find it very usefull when down-loading. I found it very frustrating some times.
Hugh Telford ● 7697d
And by repeating the right click..and adding the bits at each end... the image is repeated
Award ceremony tonight..on Ealing Forum..ok
I hope this works...my first try at a 'movie':
"Once more unto the breach, dear friends...."
Wowee! I was labouring away trying to find something to copy, not realising I'd posted 'Old Glory'!Looking forward to Award Ceremony - mine's a brandy and ginger!
Hugh,Had already done this, but thanks for tip. Audrey and Jim are a great help; now let's forge ahead and see what else we can achieve!
Is he singing "Endless Love"?
Yes, Audrey, Tony Blair and George W. in a duet. Glorious!
Ann S. Allridge ● 7696d
Just as the USA flag was about to drop off the front page of this Wandsworth Forum, I thought I ought to throw a lifeline...and project it to the top of the class.Audrey's Topic/Thread must surely be worth hitting 100..so lets revive it!! ;0)

Wow, I don' think I'd been to that site Jim! Excellent pictures there.
Hope it moves this time...
Why didn't it move. urg....
Morning Audrey..That flytrap certaining worked over here!I hope there aren't many plants like that in my garden..in case they take a fancy to my flesh!
Jim Lawes ● 7687d
I switched over to MF and the flytrap is snapping! Very strange it doesn't work in IE. Oh well, must remember that in future!!Beautiful morning, cooler weather on the way and hopefully some rain by Sunday.
Audrey Walton ● 7687d
I too am back in IMGHosting! We must have got kicked off at the same time!! I've had some success with ImageCabin and Fotopic. I have others bookmarked - PhotoServer, ThePictureBin and freeFileBin - but not tried them yet. I'm still bothered why some of the postings in MF you have to click on to view and others open immediately. Also I'd like to know how to post a link as we do in email rather than have to do the clumsy copy and paste. Oh well, enjoy your long weekend. Dahlia Festival here, tomorrow should be good photo op!
With your mouse ..move the small triangle around the circle..thats if you can see the triangle.http://www.theircircularlife.it/frameset.htm
